Whenever Mult. Change... Windows Won't Boot

Whenever I change the multiplier i.e. 12x200 instead of 11.5 (def) x 200, windowsxp does not boot. it says can't find a file in windows/system and wants me to repair it. but when i set it back to 11.5 multiplier, it's fine.

anyway to get around this?
