Whenever i shutdown my pc in win2000 it never turns off by itself

i have windows 2000 , and a very old P2 350 mhz, my problems is i always have to hold the power button to turn off my pc , any ideas ? , i think i have to goto the motherboard settings .. , no idea where to look.

Check in the power options for an APM tab. If its there, try checking it. Basically, its all related to ACPI.
