When you've aged enough to be able to say "My father was born 100 years ago" ...

My father, may he rest in hell, was born in January 2021. It only dawned on me by happenstance a couple of days ago. I know a lot of people think I'm old based on this statement, less based on my actual age, and a lot less who meet me, but the fact remains that the b'tard that is responsible for my being here was born in 1921. And, thankfully, he isn't alive. In fact, the b'tard dies about 15 years ago with no family around him.

So, who else is alive who has a parent that was born say 90-95 years ago or more? Mind you my circumstances were unique in that I was almost last on a long line of offspring that started in the 1940's.

So, you sensed his soul has reincarnated into this world already? :p

Although yeah, it's kind of surreal that the roaring 20s is now "what happened 100 years ago"...and most flappers are not even living grandmas anymore, but totally dead.....

My father was born 1911. I lost him 30 years ago. I learned to see though his eyes. He was my best friend and as fine a farmer as I ever managed to meet. I traveled the world in agriculture. He always advised me to study hard get a good job so I WOULD NOT HAVE TO WORK LIKE HE DID.

My grandma on the paternal side, and last grandparent, died recently, last year in September. She had a great run though, she had recently turned 100.

Not my father or Mother, but my Maternal Grandfather was born in 1886.

He would be 136 years old this year.

I am an actual bastard, he was a lot older than my mother & actually went to court to deny I was his child….till my aunt walked in with me… Judge looked at him, looked at me & said “ this child is your spitting image”

He never paid a cent of support, never saw me & my mother basically hated me for looking like him & having his sense of humor.

it has taken me many years to heal, to actually feel a bit sorry for the man, he missed out big time. I have my issues but I am a good person. My mother, well she did the best she could & I try to think of the good times & remember she carried her own trauma.

I hope you find peace inside yourself, I really do ❤️

My father was stationed in Los Alamos. He met Oppenheimer there. I had two uncles in the European theater, another uncle I'm not sure of, and the younger one was in Korea.

The Manhattan Project people tried to get my dad in on the project but he demured, fought in the Pacific Theater instead. He was a newly minted MD.

My uncles were all over the place fighting in WW II.

My grandma was a 1919 baby. Not too many people get to see the rise of the Commies in China from the inside out.
