When you were a child, which parent did you favor?

You should add a second question: who do you prefer now?

And modify the first question accordingly, of course.

I'm 14 and I prefer my mom. Yeah my dad doesn't give me the occasional lecture on not having sex before marriage, and doesn't say things like (if you watched pornography, you would tell me, right?), but my dad just isn't all that friendly. He wakes up a 6am, goes to work, comes home at ~8PM, goes to sleep in the basement while my mom sleeps upstairs. He stays in the basement all weekend doing work. And he's seriously doing work sometimes I go down there and he has like a 100 page article that he's typing up. My mom homeschooles me too so needless to say I spend ALOT more time with her.

EDIT: He doesn't talk to my mom much either and when he does it's usually either saying "hows the money in the account" or "the house is so messy". :(. He hasn't slept in the same room as her for about 10 years so I'm a bit worried :(.

Maybe just my personal preference, but I'd probably set up the first question (if the OP remained the same) as plain old: "Which one?"

and then for #2: "How about now?"

I was desperate for my father's approval, but he preferred one of my brothers and my sister to the rest of us.

now that we are all adults, it is only myself and one brother who was not the fave that treat him with any love and respect.

My mom and i have always been very close.

Closer to mom but that was because dad was working so much. Now that he is retired I feel like I am really getting to know him better.

I honestly don't prefer a parent... I love my parents both very much, I am an only child so that helps!

I've always preferred the fun stuff I can do with my father, but my mother is a fantastic person too. I definitely could never say I prefer a certain parent.

My dad was always very emotionally detached. I still love him to death, but my mom was always more open to me.

It's funny how since the death of mom a couple of years ago how my dad has become more outgoing toward his children. It's good to see the ice chipped around the edges.

No, I remember hearing a story on NPR that in China, they stop providing socialized medicine, and then the price of medical care went up.

They were interviewing this old lady who couldn't afford to stay in the hospital, so the family took her back home, and then instead of buying her medcines, they go a coffin instead. bastards..... old lady says "she's waiting to die", very sad.
