When you want to know of events in a town

For restaurants, I use CitySearch, TripAdvisor, Yelp, ChowHound and sometimes local websites.

For events, I usually just pick up the local events newspaper. Every city I've been to has them. You can find them outside of restaurants, grocery stores, etc. They usually have a full listing of all the events going on for the month. This is usually preferable since I don't have to be sitting in front of a computer.

Also, most of these magazines/newspapers have websites. For example, Atlanta has Creative Loafing where you can check all the events. Most cities have the same.
