you don't go back to the same scroll location? sometimes I do, sometimes i don't...wtf? it's annoying when you want to check a link or just accidentally hit the link but you want to go back to your spot in reading

browser or web page specific?

If you're coming from a link within a frame, some browsers don't return to the scroll location within the frame. I know Firefox does, but Chrome does not.

Remembering scroll position only works by default for static HTML pages. If the page is built out in javascript after being loaded on the client then the javascript has to recall the scroll position and set it, meaning it has to be saved in the url on the history stack or otherwise preserved in session state.

Just hit the alt and F4 keys at the same time, it will kick back to where you were scrolled to.

Because it sometimes has to reload the page.

Some sites are horribly designed and the scrolling is not even real scrolling but is more script/ajax based. This type of scrolling can be really sporadic and choppy. Going back you probably wont end up on same location. Facebook and most news sites seem to be like that now.

Just go down the list CTRL-clicking everything to open each link in a new tab and then close each tab as you are done with it.
