When you submit your resume at a certain company...

Is it a bad idea to submit... say 3-5 resumes for different (but they are all related to your field of interests with varying levels of experience required) or would it be best to just submit one resume for the job you feel best matches what you want?

Well assuming that you have to go through one person before getting your resume forwarded on to the hiring manager. I don't think it will help by spamming them different variations of your resume for six different jobs. It'll be interesting to see what everyone else's take is on this.

that's kind of like giving a recruiter a six page resume. would you think a recruiter would read that? i don't.

I've always submitted my resume for each position with the same company. I figure that different ppl. could review your resume for different positions depending on the company.

it really depends on how the HR department at the specific company works...which you won;t know at the time of submitting the resume. If it is a large company and each department you are applying to has its own hiring people it is fine.

i work in a large corp... when interested in several positions, you're supposed to apply for each one. We have several different in house recruiters so positions within the same department don't necessarily go to the same recruiter.

If it's a large company, they should have an applicant tracking system where you can create a profile and put in your most recent resume. Then you apply to as many positions as you like through the tracking system and it puts your resume into a basket of applicants for those jobs, usually ranked by a heuristic scanner that's looking for certain key words as defined by the position and the hiring manager.
