Do you spray saliva all over the place? I always sneeze into my hand (because I"m a respectful gentleman) and it's always completely covered in saliva. My friends all say gross...

Why am I the only one that has this probleM?

Of course. Why do your friends think it's gross? Do they not spray saliva when they sneeze? I thought it was pretty normal....

It hurts the nose too much to keep it closed.

You must keep your mouth closed. You can cause serious injury to yourself by opening your mouth when sneezing.

I don't see how you would be able to steam/spray/spritz salvia when you yawn unless you're breathing out very hard.

Do you people really sneeze that loudly? I know some girls sneeze really quietly, and I don't know, I think I sneeze like a girl sometimes.

I close my mouth and plug my nose so the sound is very very quiet. If I plug m ynose wrong, it could come out like a horrible squeak like a freaking foghorn, but if I do it right, it's only as loud as my WD Raptor in seek (jkjk)

And yes I do know the problem about splattering stuff all over the place. I have had occasions where I'm typing on AIM and not fast enough to bring my fingers over to cover my nose, and it fvcking hurts when you close your mouth and let everything through your nose. Sometimes I realize that I don't want to go through that and I open my mouth since I know my hand can't get ther ein time, so I end up splattering all over my hand, much like how most people sneeze--your typical cover the mess + sneeze technique.

Otherwise, it's just put 1 finger across the nose to block off the nostrils and then close the mouth and sneeze.. Very silent, effective, good when you're in a conference, lecture, whatever it is... Plus no sticky crap.

I've had this happen to me too. Admittedly it's very rare (once a month) and I never can pinpoint the exact reason why it occurs. Luckily it's never happened in an embarrassing fashion.

I'm generally able to feel a sneeze coming on and swallow nearly all of the saliva in my mouth in time. But I generally will try to sneeze onto my shirt on my shoulder. It's absorbent, and you don't get anything on your hands.

Also, I've heard that plugging your nose and mouth while sneezing is bad, as the pressure can try to get through your eustachian tubes and adversely affect your eardrums.
Link

And here
"By clamping your mouth closed an pinching your nose shut, you force the "sneeze" into
the eustachian tube (which connects the back of the throat to the middle ear) and then to your eardrum. Sneeze strong enough, and you could rupture an eardrum, causing acute pain, infection, bleeding, and even hearing loss."
