When you pay a lot of money for something do you expect them to last a long time?

generally, I'd only spend the money if research indicated that it was going to last awhile.

I've never found that to be the case with Apple products, though, just as an aside. I've had more hardware issues with my Macbook Air than any Lenovo/IBM laptop I've ever owned. still kicking myself for spending money on that fucking thing, but I was hardcore crushing on a mac guy at the time.

Yea, the better the quality, the more they cost and less time it lasts! :(

I'm surrounded by amateurs. You get two and do the cheaper one first before moving on to the real pro

I try and do research before hand and am ok spending more if there is a reasonable expectation that what I am buying will last longer than a cheaper alternative.

cheap laptops don't last 3 years in my experience. Thinkpads will last till they break 4+ years? And a crappy Dell Inspiron will last 1 to 2 years on average but lots of plastic parts would've already broken off by then.

I paid a pretty penny for my Wusthof knives, and know they will outlast me, but then again they are just pieces of high quality steel.
