When you know you have to many kids

I recently went to the movies to see Narnia (freakin great movie) with my wife and 3 children. Fortunately, they have a $10 deal where you get a XL popcorn, 2 XL drinks and a box of candy. Free refills on everything too, it's pretty nice. Used to have to take out a loan to go to a movie with that many people.

Anyway, it wasn't the cost that did it, but the fact that I had to get help carrying everything back to our seats. When it takes more than 1 person to carry all you movie refreshment crap to your seats, it's time to rethink a few things.

Sad thing is, we're planning on having 2 more kids. Guess that's why you're happy when they get big and can help.

Anyway, share your stories if you have any.

She is 21yrs old now, so if she wants to go to the movies... i dont have to take her.

oh yea... the good thing about having only one... when something got broken in my house... I knew who did it.

I had the opposite problem with 4 kids none of em ever fessed up to anything it always happened by itself.

Got a good pic of the two youngest one summer after I came home and found my recently painted garage partially repainted with a bluish-green copper based antifouling paint like you use on boat bottoms.
What could I say? I just went and got the camera put a paintbrush in each of thier hands in front of the wall and said ok now point at each other and smile.

Yep, I have a 5 year old boy and 3 year old girl and we'll just all of a sudden hear both of them crying. Ask them what's wrong and they always blame the other one. We just started putting them on opposite ends of the couch and tell them they can't get up until the other one says they can. Forces them to talk it out and get over it.

The best was when my oldest son was 2 1/2 and found a black sharpee and decided to decorate the white wall and brown carpet in his room. That sucked.

It's not really a "sad thing." I really love kids and love being around them. I'm actually pretty excited about having 5, I just don't always relish the work involved. There is just nothing better than when they look up and smile at you. Makes it all worth it.

Why didn't you ask the 5 year old to help you hold some of the stuff.

We had gotten in late and the movie had started. I didn't want to drag him out, so I just went by myself.

That's how I justify a woman. Personally though three is enough. I'd say you'd have your hands even more full with five, and you'd be more stressed. The earth is overpopulated as it is.

Within the past month:

As I walked out to the barn at 11pm to do the chores that my kids neglected to do all evening, I discovered my ping-pong table leaning against the lower overhang, covered in snow.
(2 weeks later, I figured it out... one was snowboarding off the roof and was using the ping pong table like a vert ramp, with a little curve of snow at the bottom)
My best snow shovel was on the roof.
A pitchfork was laying in the middle of the yard.(???)
One of my kids hung the christmas lights on the front of the house, the next day, after a 6 inch snowfall, I couldn't find my staple gun. (left on the roof)
My prybar has been missing for weeks. Found today in younger son's room.
There are dirt bike parts all over the floor on one side of our garage.
The other side of the garage has all the boxes and other stuff from the other side (we recently moved) randomly tossed everywhere, on top of everything else, including antiques (Hopefully the packing was sufficient to prevent breakage)
Every time I turn around, one son doesn't want to feed the animals, because he didn't want them in the first place; 5 minutes later, he wants a ride to his friends house 20 miles away.

So, I'd say that 2 is more than enough.
Actually, 2 kids is fine.
2 teenagers is too many.

 I can't wait. My 5 year old's favorite show is storm stories on the weather channel and my daughter's favorite hobby is being a drama queen. Can't wait for the teenage years. They should be getting along great by then. Science geek vs. teenage drama queen. Plus they'll be the other 3 too.
