When you hear of Rutgers University, What do you think?

Just trying to guage the general non-New Jersey public opinion about the school. Again, don't look it up and spew facts at me, just tell me what you think. Good school? Lame? Thanks in advance.

I live in NJ so my opinion is not what you're looking for, but it's an excellent alternative to spending $30,000 a year at a private college.

i hear rutgers and i think of a really good university. then i read this post, saw new jersey, and my opinion has been lessened.

Rutgers students always pride themselves in thinking that people from out of state think the school is hot stuff. So far it isn't true yet.

It all depends on what you are studying and what you make of it.

Rutgers is quite a good school. Not great, but quite good. US News & World Report claims they are #58.
