When you decided she was the one?

I've always been told by people who were happy with their first wives that they never divorced/seperated that you know within 10 minutes of talking to her.

I've been told by those who divorce, she was worthy of marriage because she stuck around so long.

What happened with you, and are you still together?

I knew after a few months, but not right away. There too many things that can be too complicated to 'know' right away. You may feel it, but you don't know.

I wouldn't say "within ten minutes," but certainly within a couple of weeks.

From the stories my parents have told me, my dad knew right away, but my mom took a little while.

I don't know about you but in 10 min I can't learn a heck of a lot about a person, especially if they're bitchy in the mornings or like to nag you to stop doing something you want etc.

Looking back, I can't honestly say I "knew" as soon as I met my wife. I knew that she and I really "clicked" right off the bat, but wasn't thinking "I will someday marry this woman."

She's said pretty much the same thing; she knew there was an instant connection, but not necessarily where that would lead relationship-wise.

FWIW- we met in 1990 and have been married almost 6 years.

I think I knew right away. I was still married to my first wife (separated) when I met my second (current) wife.

It still took me around seven years of dating on and off to take the second plunge. Well worth the wait tho'. Married four years and still happy, content and lustful.:D:heart:

I think I knew after our first date. We'd been circling each other in a friendly/flirtatious standoff for months (which included her being patient with my moronic move of dating her best friend . . . it was a rather stupid tactic I used to get closer to her since she seemed to have a lot of guys interested in her.) I knew she was a fantastic person, but after that first date by ourselves (we'd been out in larger groups plenty of times) I knew I loved her at the very least and could easily see myself with her for a longer relationship.

We met in '93, started dating shortly after that and have been married for 3 years.

Pretty much right away. We talked for-ev-er the night we met (at a party of all places), I got her number, called her the next day to go see a movie and the rest is history.

I think a lot of people say that because a lot of people get caught up in the emotions at first and immediately think this is the one...and then when it turns out it is, they are able to say...I knew you were the one from the beginning. They probably thought several others were the "one".

I believe my current girlfriend is the one...I have felt that since day one...but I am much more sure of it now then I was when we first met and I'm planning on haveing several more years to make sure of it before I propose (I am 24 now).

I knew after she told me... :p

As I said in the other thread, me being a guy, I'm generally clueless anyway... But yes, she's the one...
