When you chew Eclipse or Extra Polar Ice gum, do you sneeze?

It happens to me, and it's annoying as hell. Everytime I put a piece of Polar Ice or Eclipse (any flavor) in my mouth, I sneeze twice. Just twice, and then no more sneezes. It's annoying, but I love Polar Ice, so I won't stop chewing it.

Anyone else?

YES! OMG I never thought I'd find someone else with that problem!

I sneeze twice (no more no less) whenever I have:
- Something REALLY minty
- Something really salty (esp. bacon)
- Robitussin

Really wierd.

Dude - this is cool, amnesiac2.0 - but for me, it's only minty stuff, apparently. Nothing else.

Hi. I just Googled a sentence something like this...

Why do I sneeze when I chew Extra Polar Ice Gum...

And I found this forum thread...

And I signed up just so I could comment...

I sneeze each time I chew a piece of Extra Polar Ice Gum.

I am a very hard sneezer, so this can be kindof painful for me.

I'm a 29 year old woman, and I have noticed that this happens to me
with this flavor of gum for many years now.

I also had a similar problem way back when I was a teen in highschool,
and these popular little breath refresher things came out, that were like
tiny films of paper that were minty and dissolved on your tongue.

Usually I sneeze one time, very hard, within the first few chews and then
after that no more sneezing occurs.

I like the gum sometimes because it is a little stronger as far as the minty
flavor goes and it seems to help open my air ways and wake me up a little
because it's refreshing and cooling.

Maybe the natural anti-inflammatory property of the mint and also the
natural stimulation of the mint or other ingrediants causes a histamine reaction
or stimulates nerves that induce sneezes.

Maybe I am mildly allergic to mint.

My daughter, who is my "spitting image" is almost 6 years old, and something
funny I have noticed is that she hates anything with a mint flavor, up until
just recently, on very rare occasions, she will taste some things briefly when
they have a minty-ness to them.

It's bizarre.

LOL.

And it's cool to know that there are other out there that have this same odd
reaction.

I have met about 2 or 3 people in chat rooms in the past 5 years who say
the same thing happens to them!

So we are not alone!

Have an awesome day!

:) Thanks for sharing!
