You know when you buy underwear from the store, and assuming the bag is sealed, is it clean? Or should you wash it first? I never really thought about it until today. I bought some boxers and boxer briefs at Wal-Mart, one of the dirtiest stores known to man. Does Hanes wash them before they seal them in the plastic bags or what?

They're clean, but it's good idea to wash them anyway because it softens the fabric and you're less likely to chafe. Of course, it's been about 25 years since I've worn any; maybe they're softer now then they were when I was in the Army.:)

Yes you should...no matter what the people at Goodwill told you...the brown streaks are NOT racing stripes.

For some reason hearing russ talk about going commando just seems unwholesome. Just think, next time you order from compucheap.....the man packaging those parts had on no underwear....hell maybe not even pants! ;)

I always wash my stuff from stores to soften it and be sure the excess dye has washed out.

I will never shop at walmart again. I was waiting in line to return something and the lady in front of me was attempting to return a 3-pack of womens underwear.

Scary parts?

1) they were opened
2) she successfully returned them

dude, in the manufacturing process of such clothes now adays, there's so much, junk on the fabric, i.e. harsh chemicals, it's better to run them thru the wash once before use, but hey, heavy chemicals might help some guys....

plus what if they use underwear testers and test random packages before sending them out!
and one of the underwear testers has some strange freaky fungus of some sort

There is a store in town that sells underwear kind of in bulk. But if you buy from there, you have to check to make sure the bags are sealed. Some of them aren't. ;) I think I'm going to start running my stuff through the wash before I wear them. Especially stuff that's going to come in contact with my boys. :)

No, it's been worn by about 50 asian women before it hits the racks.

I'm afraid of going commando. What if your zipper gets stuck, on, well, you know.. that'd hafta hurt. I like to keep things packaged away.

i don't know man, I usually buy my underwear from Crazy Jim's underwear stand down on 27th street, but ya gotta wash em off because most of them are pre-used anyway.

short answer - yes, wash them
