Now, if I had a situtation where the guy sends me a defective product thats not suppose to be, I send it back and he refunds everything but the shipping charges, should I be pissed? Does one deserve to have money on item+shipping charges refunded or not?
 
I say money for item + shipping charges is both fair and reasonable. People should test their items before listing them.
 
By refunding your money I assume he is admitting he is in the wrong, and therefore owes you the shipping money. There really is no middle ground, if it is somehow your fault then he refunds nothing, if it is his fault he refunds everything. Giving you all but the shipping back makes no sense to me and I see no situation where it would be fair to both sides.

I agree but I'm just evaluating it in terms of right and wrong, not of the reality that the poster should be lucky that he got at least some of his money back.

I personally have known people who sell hollow laptops and other worthless products, and will never use eBay again myself because of this. They never have been caught either so don't think eBay will protect you.

Hmm... I am not a policeman. I also do not involve myself in aquantinces' affairs, including the names and addresses of who they rip off. I merely hear it during conversation and consider the person a jackass, and continue having a good time with my friends.

You wouldn't happen to know of any sellers that do this, do you? Any one in particular to avoid?
 
It's crap, but according to ebay and paypal policies, if a seller offers a refund period they only have to refund you the cost of the item, not the cost to ship the item. Sometimes shipping fees include stuff like storage, which is bullshit.

This is why you should always pay for things on ebay using a credit card and save your paypal money for FS/FT. With a credit card you'll get your shipping fee back. You'll have to pay for shipping the defective item back to them though, but if it's defective you can use the cheapest method of shipping possible (with delivery confirmation) and still get your money back.
