When you board a plane, do you like to get on ASAP or wait?

Are one of those people that hover around the gate so you can hop in as soon as they call your number? I used to be like that b/c I just wanted to get in, get some precious overhead room, and then sit down and be down. With kids now....we get a whole row of seats anyway and don't need overhead sense we put the bags under the seats of the kids...we wait until ever other person boards and they say we "have" to get on now. Then we get to our seats, take off within 5 minutes. It is Soooo much better and I don't know why I didn't do this before. I mean really why are you in such a rush to get on the plane if you have an assigned seat, especially if you are on a aisle?

No because then I'd definitely have to get up once the person who sits by me gets there.

The only time I like to "rush" to board is if I know the overhead storage is going to be limited and being 6'-3" I don't like to put my carry on under the seat.

Mainly for the overhead storage.

When your kids grow up you'll be back to your old "board asap" routine.

I really don't understand the people who rush to get on the plane. Why you want to sit in there longer for no reason idk. I'll wait till the end and take my time

I wait. I'm in no hurry for the sheer disappointment of sitting next to a fat man.

you are probably right :( - by then they'll probably be charging by the pound for carry on luggage so they'll likely be a lot of extra room then, I hope.

I can't stand those sorry sons of Bs who take so much crap for carry on. The airlines are such sticklers with luggage and weight limits, but hey, you want to carry on 5 items that are too big, they'll go so far as to help you try to jam them in the overhead.

I only fly Southwest, so I always try to get on ASAP to get a good seat.

In the very rare instance I fly another carrier I wait until the end; there's no point being on the plane any more than necessary if you have an assigned seat and I always travel with just a backpack that can stow under the seat.

I prefer to be in front because of lack of overhead space. It's rare these days not to run out for the poor guys last on the plane with the mammoth multiple carry ones. Women are the worst. Huge carry on, big stuffed packpack/laptop bag and humongous purse that could double as a duffel bag.

Business travelers are the worst, because they don't want to check anything. Their laptop bags take up almost as much space as a full carry-on bag in the overhead compartment (nevermind that it's supposed to go under the seat in front of them). If they put a garment bag up there it's even worse.

Doesn't matter. You wait to get on the plane, you wait to take your seat, you wait in your seat for the flight to begin, you wait for your complimentary beverage, you wait for your turn to use the lavatory, and you wait in your seat for the flight to end. It's all one big fucking hassle of hurrying up to wait.

I just check 1 bag and carry on my laptop. Fuck anything that can't fit under the seat in front of me.

I've only been on a plane twice in my life except when I was a baybay. (To and from Hawaii/Portland) I've learned that getting on as late as feasible is best. Otherwise you'll have to just wait and wait and wait... and wait. oh yeah, and wait.

It's not like I have any carry-ons anyway.

I prefer to wait and let the stampede died down before I board because I'm not an inconsiderate ahole, and I check in all my luggages.

My bad, spelling correction (auto spelling correction can be a pain in the ass).

I get on when they call my row or during pre-boarding if I'm flying 1st class. People that rush the gate just so they can wait some more while standing around looking like an idiot make me laugh.

don't get on last, no overhead bins. get it line and get on as soon as you can. last time i flew, this chick who sat next to me wouldn't shut up the whole flight. all i wanted to do was close my eyes for an hour, she told me her entire life story in the 3 hour flight.. i felt like saying, god damn lady.. shut up.
