i just checked windows update, and there is a whole bunch of patches for XP, now accumulating to serious numbers and size, so when can we expect a Service Pack, considering the OS just now been released and it will look funny if they make a service pack so soon, but on the other hand, it will be good customer service, 'coze service pax are so easy to install and all (i just integrate them to the install cds)

so, what are the news?

most people are saying sp1 should be out by early next year. for now, here is a beta "sp1" that takes all patches and combines them into 1

Hehe.. a few days after release and people are demanding a SP1.. crazy Microsoft.

Btw.. if anybody knows when SP3 for Windows 2000 comes out or if it will, be sure to reply to this post. 😀

The "unofficial" SP1 for XP is floating around on the Internet. It's about 40mb in size and has more updates & patches than the ones currently available at windowsupdate. This "unofficial" version has not been released as the KB for each hotfix has not been completed. Also, the SP1 files were password-protected but it didn't take too long for the cracker community to bypass the security feature. I would expect the SP1 (official release) to be available within next few weeks.
