To me, defining summer is the first weekend when I can camp in a tent and reasonably expect most of the time it'd be warm enough to have fun.

Here, that's early June.... 5 months to go.

When the sun hitting the front door heats up the doorknob so that it is hot to the touch... on the inside. Usually mid-May.

The first hundred degree day is also a marker. Usually mid-May as well.

High Summer starts when the cicadas drown out all other noises and when the Spring winds die off completely. The pre-monsoon Sonoran Desert Summer is truly awesome with blinding heat so intense every motion is considered carefully. The senses alert to everything. The creosote, brittlebush, and seep willow smell.

Here it's July and August... that's it. It's the only months where it's not raining every day.

However, July and August here probably have the best weather in the entire country. 78 degrees and low humidity every day.

Going by the latest climatology information..

Jan------15.2°F----43.2°F
Feb------19.1°F----47.2°F
Mar------25.4°F----53.7°F

Oct-------35.9°F----66.0°F
Nov-------23.5°F----51.5°F
