A slew of posts over the Hitachi CML174B LCD (12r, 4f, total 16ms) have popped up over the past 2 days...

And a quick search of Dealtime reveals

Not sure if anyone in the states had been able to actually get one though...

Do let us know if you find any others :)

Well I agree 18bit color is kinda weak, I can't confirm that #. Dealtime says 18bit, and a review for the european equivilent says 18bit, but Hitachi's press release says nothing, and its not listed on their site...so I am wary of that #...

Anyone else find anything helpful?

So are we to assume that these CML174B are 24bit displays? and it is the notebook panels that are 18bit?

Although 174 seems to be not using Hitachi's Super-IPS panel,
it should be 24bit colors panel too.
Haven't seen any 18bit colors panel for desktop LCD.

The CML174 DOES support 24/32-bit color (16.7m) according to the forum users over at THG who've tested it and proven it's not a 6/8/16/18-bit (262k) monitor. :)

Regarding 19+ inch 16ms LCDs from Hitachi, Jim Witkowski the chief hardware engineer over at monitorsdirect.com stated that "The panel manufacture has announced a lager panel, however I have not heard any announcements from the monitor manufactures as to when a complete monitor will be available. I would have expected announcements at last months Comdex show if they where near."

Now Philips has a new 20.1 inch 16ms LCD that was slated to begin mass production this month and I guess it'll be out next month: http://www.creativepro.com/story/news/18210.html

These panels will probably fetch a moderately high price when they first come out particularly if they're going to be using MVA, but hopefully of course they'll drop due to market competition as more and more people come to realize just how sweet these monitors can really be and snatch them up.

The CML 174 does support 32bit color

Running just fine with it and I am very pleased with this LCD. I haven't seen any ghosting in UT2003.. the only problem so far is Diablo 2.... WHY can't Blizzard make a 1280X1024 resolution!!!

$575

I bought planar 19 inches LCD from Dell. It still has a lot of ghost. And it is too bright, which make me very uncomfortable at night..

That means it has response-time of 25ms, nothing to write home about.

i don't think theres a native 1024x768 res for diablo. its an ugly game anyways so the resizing to fit your 15" is probably unoticable.
