When will we have cost effiecent and easily available video upgrades for notebooks?

I really want a notebook, but i don't like the idea of spending a ton of cash for a decent laptop with good video, only to have it be obsolete in a few years. I don't need top of the line graphics, but i want them to be at least mid level or better. SO will we ever be able to upgrade the video in a laptop affordablly?
