Yeah, but the id associated with the worm on his system was in NO WAY associated with Anandtech. The name doesn't even show up on d.net's stats page, and there is an announcement on the front page of distributed.net about the exact worm, with the exact email address that was on this guy's system. He came in here and yelled because "There is a lot of competitive bragging about dnet here". And that's it. The id was not associated with Anandtech, and he did not get the virus from the Anandtech website (even though he thinks that he was infected with the virus while browsing the Anandtech site... how, I don't know).

Err no, different people react in different ways ,some peolple (understandabley) would just get more annoyed each time.

I really hope that we can avoid the normal "monthly" rift that we seem to get ourselves into and be happy again.....I for one enjoy this team, both good and bad, and respect that everyone has their opinion...both sides! I'm not agreeing with anybody, I'm just stating that it's time to move on from this episode before we lose more than a little humility!

Gosh... this thing multiplied so fast (and I was so busy over the weekend building a new cow/cruncher outta my Russ-bought mobo to even notice it until now), that I thought it was a neffin'/dasm thread! 😉

And as I read through all of these posts, I began to consider this the longest Troll thread in the history of Anandtech! 🙁

But seriously, I think alot of folks here are still smarting (I know I am) after the whole Dicypher net OGR incident. I'll bring it up now as an example since no one else has.... Where there was a post here, essentially accusing TA of harboring a cheat, further emphasizing this fantasy with publicly posted accusations against TA on the front pages of D-net's website, and the enormous teeth pulling necessary to get all of that bullsh1t retracted. And so, here we go again....

The concern is that if this type of FUD continues (and that's what it really is), you end up with people at each other's throats, and eventually if the in-fighting is not stemmed, you'll have people threatening to leave, blah...

I have no problem helping ANYONE fix their computer troubles. I would even recommend to Paladinexe that if windud's virus-a-day problems are giving you that much heartburn, then dammit, switch to Linux or some *nix. At least 99% of your virus problems will go away (there are a few *nix viruses out there but why bother when 90% of world runs microshaft winblows?)

I'm not going to be so naive as to believe the "Can't we all just get along" line because realistically... it ain't gonna happen folks. But we can at least come to an understanding that the Feddies I'm sure would endorse... Peaceful co-existance. You do your thing, I'll do mine.

And for anyone who reads through this thread and gets this far... I say, let's nip any FUD in the bud right away when it first comes out (which I believe was done, trouts and chocolate pudding not withstanding... 😉), and then move on...
