When will they stop singing God Bless America during baseball games?

Seriously, it's annoying and a slap to the face to anyone that is forced to stand up to honor some imaginary being in the sky. Ever since 9/11, it has become a staple of the 7th inning stretch.

It was this imaginary being that was used for the reasoning for the 9/11 attacks, and does nothing but remind those people that certain Americans think their imaginary God is better than their imaginary God.

It's time to stop the bullshit and bring back "Take me out to the ballgame." People had loads of fun when that song was played, and it didn't alienate anyone.

What does ATOT think?

Apparently enough people like it that they keep doing it. You don't have to participate.

Um, I've been to a few Yankees games, and people who don't stand up risk getting their asses kicked or beer thrown at them.

For all the crap the God followers say about other religions being full of hate, they seem to get just as violent when non-believers don't follow their example.

"Take me out to the ball" game is for the 7th inning stretch noob.

Also, stop pushing your anti-God Bless America agenda in my face.

A true atheist would be so apathetic about this whole thing that they wouldn't care either way.

Many parks have either replaced or added God Bless America to Take me out to the ball" game for the 7th inning stretch.

Human beings are full of ignorance, hate and are violent. This isn't just restricted to mono, poly or anti theists.

So I have to have their agenda pushed in my face?

I'm sorry you feel that way, but don't go then. Living in a society is a compromise. More people want to hear it than not. Suck it up for a min or two or stay home.

You know when they're going to play it. Feel free to take a potty break or go get some food. No one's forcing you to listen or participate.

I would retch if I was at any sporting event and they started singing that crap. I definitely would not participate. They do that shit at family dinners, praying I don't participate there either.

I find it annoying as well. We already have the national anthem before the game (and nobody has ever been able to explain to me how that tradition ever even got started), I don't think we really need to re-affirm our allegience to America after 6 1/2 innings of baseball have been played.

Let's just sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame and get back to the game.

(my opposition has nothing to do with "god", it just has to do with having no clue why it's necessary to sing the song in the first place. It never was before, so why now?)

If you don't like it, don't watch baseball.

Also, given the timing of your post, I think you're referring to an 86 year old Tony Bennett, who did a great job.

I remember when the 1st gulf war started, I was watching a hockey game being broadcast live from Detroit. When the lady sang the American National anthem the place went NUTS and then even more nuts when she sang "the rockets red glare". -

That's back when we would all watch CNN, they had cameras in Bagdad.
