When will the Palomino core be out?

How long until the Palomino core will be out and being shipped?

AMD stated Palomino will be lauched in Q1, and start replacing the Tbird during Q2. So that basically means around the end of Q1 - beginning of Q2.

So, if you're not up on your quarters, sometime in March the Palomino should make its debut, and start to replace the T-Bird in April

Whatever VIA, Ali and SiS come out with. And, of course, initially whatever chipset AMD builds to kick it off.

It will run on the same chipsets ad the Tbird does today, though I suspect we won't see any 200MHz FSB Palominos.

The palominos are going to be released at 1.3ghz right? Will they be any better than a 1.3gig t-bird?

The main difference between the Tbird and the upcomming Palomino is the powernow feature. There will also be some minor achitechtural changes, but in short I'd say it's doubtful if the Palomino will be any better/worse than the Tbird clock-for-clock.

I would think there'd be a small boost. But the big thing with Palomino is actually the heat reduction from the current generation of T-Birds, supposedly 20-30% less.
