I've read that the D2x has been annouced in September. Anyone have an Idea when it will be released and what kind of price one would pay for it when it is first released?

Also, I'm a bit confused, but just to make sure, Is the D2x the same thing as the D200?

I see it will have a CMOS sensor instead of a CCD. Is this a sign that CMOS is suprior?

Finally, I'm new to digital camera's, but how long does it usually take for the price to drop a few hundered?

Thanks.

google is your friend.

From here...

Based on a conversation with an authorized representative from Nikon Canada Inc., we have today learned that the anticipated Manufacturer's Recommended Retail Price (MSRP*) for the Nikon D2X Digital SLR will be $6250 CAN. About $5200 US based on exchange rates as of 08/12/04)

An actual ship date for the new Nikon D2X has yet to be confirmed, although the initial indication provided by Nikon back in September was that the D2X would be available by early 2005.

January and ~5000$ according to the initial priced listed in august

however many speculate it will be more like 3500$ because of the recent drop in price of the D2H

Is the D2x the same thing as the D200? Because I heard the D200 was to replace the D100 and thats a $1500 camera.

no - the D2x will be Nikon's top-end DSLR. the D100/200 are the mainstream DSLR cameras, positioned just above the d70 at around $1500 for the body. The D200 only exists as speculation right now, no formal announcement about it has been made and not really expected for another few months.

no the D200 does not even exist on paper yet
the d2x is a 12mp camera, with all the pro features, cam 2000 AF works with older lenses.... all that stuff the D1 and D2 do

it also has this nifty abality
it will shoot 5.5 FPS at 12mp normal crop factor of 1.5
it will shoot 8 DPS at 6mp crop factor of 2x

basically it doubles the effective length of any lens, 300 becomes 600.... FVCKING AWSOME for people that shoot sports, shorter lenses are less expensive and work great also lighter and such

whan the D200 comes about it will most likely be 8-10mp and have the features of teh D70, prob add a few like support for a vertical grip, magnesium body, possibily a better AF metering system, more custom functions...

Do you think it would be at all likely for the D200 to come out in or by april?

What is resale value like on digital camera's when upgrading body's or lenses? I could buy a D70 and then just upgrade to a D200 later on, but It would be nice if I didn't lose big in the process. Maybe thats too much to hope for though.

What do you think? Thanks
