When will the next office come out?

I'm thinking about getting Office XP for students and teachers, but I don't want the next version to come out this or early next year...Anyone have any predictions?

I found outlook to have many useful features added to it.

That may very well be, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the colored, beveled UI is ugly. MS rants about how every application in Linux looks different and that their UI guidelines make Windows easier to use but then their own development teams don't follow the UI guidelines or standards.

actually, if you've used windows for any sort of time now, you'll have noticed that the win32 interfaces have been going towards a rounded, beveled look

oh yeah, and no one likes an ass

Sure, because Visual Studio.NET and Office XP had a very rounded look to them...

And name one app that looks like Office 2003, or even Office XP besides Visual Studio.

I'm an ass because I don't like the hypocrisy coming from Microsoft?

Did they add some more auto formatting features to word, so it rearranges stuff as you type to places that you don't want it? It only does that about half the time now, they should be able to get it damn close to all the time.

I'm sure you can add custom ones for that.

Offtopic. But thanks for trying.

Office 11 has been in beta 2 for a while now, and RC1 should happen "very soon." I would bet you will see Office 2004 before January 1st.

Edit: Not that MS is shooting for a Christmas release, mind you. I doubt that is a marketing goal. "Gee, Daddy! You got me Office 2004 for Christmas! I wanted an Xbox, but this is so much more practical! Thank you so much!"
