When will the 9700's come down to $150?

I was wondering when ATI was gonna release their next chipset, which would in turn reduce prices on the 97 and 9800 cards that are already out. When will we begin to see the 9700's going for $150 and under? I already know that they have hit $200 in some stores.

They will be $150 on 9/18/03.

Oh yeah. I forgot that since I don't set prices for chips/components/manufactured cards, and do not control supply and demand in the marketplace, and don't have a working crystal ball there is no way I could possibly post anything even close to accurate in response to this thread.

For anyone who thinks they can:
Tell me which stocks are going to triple in value by next year. I want to buy them.

I too am in the "looking for a cheap but damn fast card" deal. A year and a half ago, I bought my GF3 ti200 for $150, which still has some decent power and runs everything I own pretty well, even Splinter Cell at 1024 with good detail. While it's good for now, I have a feeling the games I buy in the next 2 to 6 months will start crushing my little GF3, so I'm eyeing good DX9 cards, and practically none of them are in the $150 range. About the only thing that's close is the Radeon 9500Pro and 9600Pro. The 9500 Pro is faster, but is nearly $190. The 9600Pro isn't that huge of an upgrade from my GF3. It's definitely faster, but I don't know if it's $150 faster...the only benefit I get is DX9. Any ideas on the best low cost vid card that would make it worthwhile to ditch my GF3?

I predict that THIS stock will be hot, HOT, HOT!! Anything "amalgamated" has got be going places.

I think the 9700 will be out of production before your able to buy a retail/oem for $150. But you will see 9700np on the used forums in 4-5months for near that price.

Enron is going to be huge! They have all these pipelines and stuff so they have rights of way to bury fiber optic cable and become the backbone of the world wide internet! So it's like having the security of a utility with the growth of a high tech! Buy all you can!!

Same here, I think I will wait until the 9700's price drops to ~150$. Fx5600 or R9600 are not big upgrades, and no games need more power at the moment. Probably not even DooM3 or HL2 will.

Only Used 9700's will ever get that price, IMO. 9700's are pretty much out of production since being replaced by the somewhat better 9800s, but they are still a long ways away from being a lower end card.

I think the people saying that by the time a 9700 is blah blah you wont want it are wrong

the tech moves to fast. It will get there, but then there will be something else to wait for to get to 150

I do symphatize withy ou 150 is not a good price point anymore

either 99 or 200.... its retarded but thats the way it is. personally I thinkyour best bet is to pick up a used RETAIL card because it still has a 3 year warranty which is MORE than long enough.
