Support won't be stopped so much as phased out. The recent "expiration" of NT4 MCSE certifications (or whatever you call those Mickey Mouse certifications) was one of those phase-out activities. Microsoft will discourage vendors from providing drivers compatible with NT4, they will discourage them from making apps compatible with NT4, and so on. It will be a gradual process.

when will service pack support stop?

the reason i am asking is because i was informed that support for nt4 would stop this year....in what form i don't know.

if anyone knows anyhting about this, please let me know!! THANKS!!!

Service pack support for NT 4.0 has stopped already. MS canceled SP7 which was supposed to debut in september or so. The only thing they said they would continue to do was provide Security Patches for the OS, and I have no idea how long that will continue. They said they might roll all security updates together every so often, but I don't know if you could call that a Service Pack. Kinda I guess....

as i recall from past ms actions, they usually try to force old versions out within 2-3 years of a newer release.
