I also noticed, at least on the login window (all that I got to work), that they used the regular stoplight close/minimize colors, not the graphite ones that the rest of my system uses. Kind of reminds me of how WMP12 doesn't fit in with XP, or Zune doesn't fit with any Windows OS.

I am not sure how well Steam would work if they went with a more OS X look, but at least they could make the window movement not so glitchy.

I could never figure out how to make the SteamCloud thing work. Can one convert offline saves into Cloud saves? I would appreciate being able to skip the first, i don't know, 15 levels of Portal, I really enjoy the last 3-4 but the first bunch are just there for keeping time.

Saves show up for me, but I'm not using any cloud stuff...

Hmm.. my saves aren't showing up either.. lame.. so much for OS X being a Tier 1 platform.

It is day 1, it might just be a server glitch, or it could be that there really are a lot of people that wanted this, and are hammering their servers.

Just installed it, picked up Portal. Hopefully they'll fix my slow ass internet when the cable guy comes tomorrow so it doesn't take five days to download.

I dunno what the cloud stuff is on steam either. Never signed up for it or anything. I rebooted and opened steam in windows then booting in mac. And it said syncing, but only achievements not saves.

Portal runs a bit slower it seems, what was the command to show fps? ?

Oh snap, my bad.

Blabble blabble, I hate Steam, stupid broken system!

:D

It's actually pretty good for a first attempt. There are things that I can be nitpicky about, but overall.. I really like it, and the performance is good enough that I can play the games I want to without dual booting. Which is amazingly nice.

Anyone know if there is a release schedule for bringing games to OSX? I forgot all about Steam, but just logged into my account and have quite a few games that I would love to go back to. But the only one that is available for mac is Portal.

Got it installed, and updated, and am downloading Portal and Torchlight now.

Now, I just need to figure out how to get the games to go to my other hard drive, where my existing Steam folder is.

Ouch.. yea, I tried playing Portal last night and thought it looked pretty soft. Guess my eyes weren't deceiving me. Oh well.. My use for Steam right now is quick 15-30 min gaming sessions, so it doesn't bother me too much.

i think we will see some improvement and soon. Because obviously drivers are no where near the optimization of windows drivers. After that maybe opengl gets more work due to the increase in users. Well this assumes apple actually cares to help, who knows about that. I would assume though they would want to improve on their system.

I think if apple doesnt work on optimizing performance, this steam move could really hurt osx's image. Especially if the linux version runs really well lol. Nevertheless, its still pretty exciting.

OK, I downloaded all of the games I already had for PC that were available for Mac (Portal, Indy, Dig, Loom, Monkey Island (Tell-Tale version)). Now I would just love to see KOTOR and Secret of Monkey Island (Remake) version ported over!
