When will RAM prices come down you think??

When do you guys think the price on RAM will come down??? I can't wait to buy some DDR ram. Currently using sdram on a ddr capable board. I want to experience my system to the fullest degree.

This is "normal pricing" right now. It'll prolly only come down with the gradual introducing of newer technology and standards (like 512mb ram being common on OEM systems, PC2700 spec arriving, PC1066, PC1200, etc).

From the little I've seen, there's a period of time when the price of ram skyrockets - then people stop buying as much ram and the prices drop low again... About a three to six month period.... It just appears that way to me anyway...

And just as I was looking into DDR ram as well...🙁

I wouldn't expect it to come down for a long time.
The really low prices mostly through last year were because companies had to sell no matter what the cost to them was. Every chip was sold at a major loss. The prices you see now are barely break-even for the companies, I would expect them to go up just a little bit more so that the companies can make a profit.

BTW if you want to see what the current lowest prices you can get for different types of memory are, check out the Sharky Extreme weekly price guides at www.sharkyextreme.com. They update every week with the lowest prices they can find anywhere on just about every type of memory thats being made.

<------------ Bought 512mb for the desktop when sharky said prices could not get any lower, then watched prices more than double the next week and keep going up from there

I don't think DDR would come down for a while, now we have Intel boards that uses DDR and I expect DDR demand to skyrocket.

<< Wow, i didn't know Sharky's site was still up.. >>

Yeah, it's still there. It's not very informative on most things (IMO), but they've got the best price lists I've been able to find anywhere

<< hmmm I don't think I'll microwave my DDR for a while as much as I'd like to try it.. >>

Just go toss a fwe more cd's in there, that'll take your mind off of it.

Or you could try microwaving that spare EDO RAM you have laying around. C'mon, you know you want to!
