When will prices fall?!

I've been waiting for the Radeon 9800 Pro to dip below $300 for ages. Any idea when it might do so?

frys has 9800 pro for $299 occasionally in there weekly ad

Probably not until faster cards are released. NV40 and r420 will probably be launched in March, so you may have to wait until then or perhaps a little earlier as vendors try to reduce inventory before the new parts are released.

If we are lucky maybe we will get one more speed bump before then and see a $50 price drop across the board on lower cards.

edit: I'm assuming when you say below $300 you do not want it @ $299

Best Buy has been running the 9800 Pro for $299 after $100 instant rebate. I think it's still going on.

on the website it still says 299 for the 9800 pro!!! I got one and i am pleased with it
