Do we really need an upgrade on the Nexus 2013? It's just a spec war now with mobile devices. I think the only thing that can make it better is a lower price ($150?) and Android L.

Nexus 7 FHD is still my favorite mobile device by far. Even after living with G2, S4, iPhone 5s and now Note 3.

YES it is an awesome tablet!!!

I would not spend more than $200 for it today, but if you keep an eye out on slickdeals.com such as creating a text or email alert when it goes below a certain price you can easily get it for less than $200.

Currently Newegg has a refurbished model 16 gb for $200 with a $50 mail in rebate. But they have a 10% off code making it $180, and you can do VCO for another 10% off making it $162-$50 MIR so for a total of $112 It was $10 dollars cheaper yesterday but Newegg raised the price.

For a new model Staples has it on clearance for the 32gb but not the 16gb so if you can find a local store in stock you can get it for $160 due to a $100 dollar off coupon. See here.

YMMV since it is clearance

They also have the 32gb lte for $170 because of clearance and the $100 off coupon but that is going to be hard to find since very few stores carried the lte model.

It is arguably still the best Android Tablet sub $400.

Now we know no information when if ever the 2014 nexus tablets will be released.

It looks likely there will be no new Nexus tablets. They are not going to compete with Samsung

I dont know.
Just got a refurb 2013 nexus and its awesome. Cant see myself needing a 2014.

As for a direct answer, I bet it will be out before Xmas. Any later would be silly.

Google always releases new Nexus devices in sync with new Android versions, since they're supposed to be reference devices. Android L is expected to arrive in the fall, so you can probably make a reasonable guess for timing based on that.

The current rumors have HTC making a slightly larger Nexus tablet (codenamed Flounder or Volantis) that may replace both the Nexus 7 and 10 in one fell swoop. It should be much faster for gaming, although it won't necessarily be as cheap.

The 2013 N7 will never see L. Google will hold it for the new lineup, so it's going to have to be some OS to get us current owners to pony up for another device. As for competing with Samsung, the one advantage Google has is not loading up their hardware with all the bloat Samsung is in love with; I'd root my SG4 if I could, but alas. So yeah, Google should come out with another generation of tablets, but keep them lean and mean.

This poster meant to say "Apple" not Google will force users to upgrade via planned obsolescence.

there is no way in hell the 2013 N7 will not get Android L. nothing in their treatment of Nexus products says otherwise. to get to your conclusion one would have to live in an alternate reality

You are so misinformed that you need to spend more time catching up and less time posting.
