When will they learn C (My Computer) Comes BEFORE D (My Docs).

It drives me crazy!!!!!!!!!!

Becasue its not Right. I dont know about you guys but i dont use My Docs All that much. I just dont understand why they did it. It would be ONE down from the top OMG!!!!!!!!!

Yea - MD is on top, the MC, then MNP. It's out of convenience rather than alphabetically. I've never noticed until now, it only bothers extremely anal people, apparently

Um, that can be changed with a simple download of TweakUI.

It was changed because most users tend to utilize that My Documents folder than My Computer, Mr. Smartypants.

It's easier to complain rather than go through the LONG ARDUOUS process of downloading TweakUI and fooling with it

If you're referring to the desktop icon layout in Windows XP, install the TweakUI Powertoy from Microsoft.

Then run it (TweakUI) from the start menu. Expand the "Desktop" menu item and under "First Icon" choose My Computer instead of My Documents.

Screw that. I shouldent have to download that Crap program to fix somthing that should have been alphabetical in the first place.

TweakXP had a fix for that. Also, you can manually set it and enable align to grid.

MS realizes that ordering desktop items by BUSINESS VALUE has a greater ROI than ordering alphabetically, especially since 90% of corporate users have absolutely no desire/need to go into My Computer. Also keep in mind that My Computer is often removed on corporate desktops.

Sorry you're inconvenienced, but being the "power user" you are, you can deal with it 🙂

No, it should not have been alphabetical.

For the vast majority of users, for the vast majority of applications on the market, the proper place to save files is to the My Documents folder.

There are several technological reasons for this, but Folder Redirection is one good one: in a corporate environment, My Documents can quickly and easily be directed to a network server so that the IT staff can back up users' data.

YOU are the one that's different from most people, therefore the system is more inconvenient for you.

Which is pretty much as it should be. Listening to your bellyaching is better than listening to millions of users who can't understand why My Documents isn't listed first.
