Anyone else is tired of logitechs paper launches?

With the mx510 series they paper launched it, made the info available on their site and they put the product on 'notify me', but the mouse was nowhere to be found for months.

Same is happening with the new mice and keyboard. There are not available yet but they are listed on their webpage as products and they annouced them all over the internet... grrr. . grrr..

Kept you from buying a rival product during those several months, didn't it?

They'll learn to stop paper launching the same day everybody else does: Never. I like biostud's idea though.

personally I prefer a paper launch + an availability date (a real one)

A Paper Launch with availabilty within 2 months barring major problems ie. natural disaster affecting pcb production or the like to such a degree where it is unrealistic to have a decent amount of items available.

I think I would be able to live with a fiery pit swallowing the production plant, as a reasonable excuse for beeing delayed. But I agree that the problem will most likely be that they cannot guarrantee such a thing. Personally I tend to wait a couple of month after a launch, for the products to have reached a stable pricing that is a bit lower than the early pricing.

How is a fiery pit an acceptable excuse? I used to walk 12 miles barefoot through fiery pits just to get to school. And it was uphill both ways.
