When will LCD not suck?

When will LCD displays be good. I need an improvement in contrast, color quality, response time, and gamma before I will buy one. Are there any new ones out that I don't know about. They must have 1600x1200 and compete with CRT is all but resolution. Can any one give me a guess as to when these may be available.
