When will Intel DDR capable chipsets be available?

I don't know if I should just upgrade to 258MB of PC133 RAM from 128 before waiting for DDR SDRAM. I know DDR SDRAM is already available but when will INTEL have a DDR capable chipset available? If it's not by christmas I guess I'll just plunge in and get another expensive stick of Mushin rev 2. I'd much rather have a superfast DDR p3 combo though... mmmm 😎

Please no comments from Athlon advocators... I am aware that AMD will have ddr chipsets available much sooner than Intel, but that has no relevance to what I am asking for

Intel is bound by its agreement with Rambus. AFAIK, it will not be offering consumer-level DDR solutions within the next year.

Madcowz - do you mean when will Intel have DDR chipsets available, or when will DDR chipsets be available for Intel CPU's? Because they aren't the same answer. I can't answer the first, but Via is likely to have a DDR chipset available for Intel platforms before Christmas - or at least they say that they will.

PM, is that part of your sig or do you type it every time you post a message?

I ask because it changes all the time, which makes it seem you just retype it every message.

Via is coming out with the DDR chipset for the Intel Platform based on the already proven Samari Chipset made by Micron. The will release the DDR chipset for Intel before they release an AMD version.

Knight - I retype it every time, but I only add it when I mention anything relating to Intel. Since I'm most of my posts don't relate to Intel, I haven't added it to my sig. I guess that I should put it in my .sig, but I feel stupid having it on my messages anyway and I try to use it sparingly.
