With it going to be the last year it is hard to tell. Best thing to do is go to the dealership and ask them what is the latest date you can order a custom car.

Or another car that is very good is the Malibu. Just in case you can't get the Prizm. My mom had a Prizm, great car. Now she has a Con. Z28.

But both cars are very good. My dad used his GM CC to buy stuff for his business just for the rebate. :) Works well. That and if you get the end of year % or rebate to add to the savings your CC gives you it adds up REAL BIG savings. And if you graduated from college in the last six months you might something for that.

GM has so many deals right now that if you can get them all, you can get a great car for almost next to nothing. Mo mom and dad both got new cars in the last year and a half.

The 'Big Three' close down each plant depending on the model it makes sometime between June and late July for 'retooling.'

They layoff or have employees take vacations during this time. The plant may close from 2 weeks to two months depending on how much change the car model will undergo and therefore how extensive the machines used to make that model are modified or replaced.

Usually the next model year is available the last week in August at the earliest.

As mentioned above - ask the dealer.

At one time the big 3 closed for about 6 weeks during the summer to retool. Now, a new model can hit the showroom any time.

That and being the last year of this car, they might shut down early to get ready for the next model they are going to built there.
They have to change the whole line and retarin the builders on what to do to the next model.

When it was made in Jap. is was. But they moved it to america. If I remember correct its a Toyota plant, but its run by GM.

Also a little bit to think about, the Prizm is more stable than the corolla. This happened after they were moved to America and GM starting running the plant. Before they were about the same :)

According to this timeline on the Toyota-GM joint venture website, the last Prizm was built in December 2001. This was done in order to build the new Vibe at the same plant.

So, you might as well buy it now with all the tasty rebates, because the selection isn't going to get any better.

Well if you work for GM you get a discount, then there is the year end rebates or %.

Those are the only ones I know of. But also dealers can offer their own deals also. Like $99 over invoice, type deals. Add something like that with all the GM deals and you got a grat deal.

But N8Magic is what I was thinking, the Prizm might not be made anymore. I remember the Vibe and the Toyo version is being built now.

So you need to call a chevy dealer ASAP and see if the Prizm and Vibe are being made together or if the Prizm is done.

The California plant is a joint effort. The Corolla front end problem was solved after the first year with the addition of a sway bar which was already on the Prizm.
