when will DVD burners price drop happen?

Like everything else, I know they will EVENTUALLY drop in price and become accessible to the financially challenged, but has anyone heard anything about WHEN its gonna happen? I haven't bought my DVD drive yet, and was thinking maybe I could wait until the burners go down in price instead.
