When will Dual DDR RAM MoBos(i845e) come to the P4?

As the title says, when are we going to get to see Dual DDR RAM in action on a P4?

I'm really itching for a 1.6Ghz Northwood, but the RDRAM vs. single channel DDR SDRAM issue is the only thing stopping me. RDRAM seems like a dead end technology, at least in the near future. Not to mention DDR SDRAM overclocking much better than RDRAM.

Thanks for any responses!

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe DDR motherboards for P4's have been out for months now.

BTW, I heard just the other day that Rambus, the company that produces RIMMs for the original P4 platform has gone belly up - out of business!!! Guess that is what Intel gets with their grand plans!!! now it will be DDR memory from now on for their systems I guess.

I think he means dual-channel DDR RAM motherboards (like nVidia's nForce for AMD processors).

I am also curious as to when they will come out; in theory a dual channel DDR266 motherboard offers 4.2 GB/s of bandwidth, the same as PC1066 Rambus memory, and DDR333 dual channel is 5.4 GB/s ... I'm not sure if intel is even going to release a mainstream dual channel DDR motherboard, I've heard nothing on that subject. However, a single channel DDR board (like the P4B266 or P4S333) are great performers when coupled with DDR memory running @ 333.

Edit: Oh yeah almost forgot, DDR memory has much better latency than Rambus as well; dual channel DDR should crush Rambus in P4 systems!

Don't expect any Dual Channel DDR P4 boards for a little while.

Also - expect NEW RDRAM boards from Intel based on NEW RDRAM types/speeds

Sorry guys, I was half asleep when I posted that(isn't that what college is about?:)). I meant Dual Channel DDR SDRAM.

I also did some researching and it wasn't easy, but I found out the chipset will be named Granite Bay and will come out the end of this year.

Early Next Year Granite Bay will be released. I'd stick with Dual Channel RDRAM for now though, but it seems you like many, are believing that RDRAM is Dead end, which I doubt greatly. SiS 645DX is ok, but, I really would consider an 850e board with a 533fsb CPU and PC1066 RDRAM (or oc 850 board with a 1.6A to 533fsb+PC1066 RDRAm with Samsung PC800). That setup will outperform any overclocked DDR setup (that includes SiS 645DX with DDR400). Just my take. But, you'll be safe with SiS 645DX if you choose.

EDIT

That is a myth with PC1066 RDRAM. PC1066 RDRAM has nearly identical latency to PC2100 DDR, and it only turns further to RDRAM's favor when PC2700 or PC3200 DDR is used. That's why SiS 645DX with DDR400 doesn't do as good as you'd think it would. See here. In those Cachemem benchmarks, you only see a 845 SDRAM compared, but keep in mind that it has been shown thatr DDR does have higher latency that SDRAM so it only will be a greater depisite for DDR.
