I'm transfering to Arizona State University this fall. I'll be moving down early August. Plan on buying a new accord. When is the best time to purchase the car, and would I likely find a better deal in Arizona than I would in California (taxes, etc.)? Are there any emissions things I have to consider when buying a car that might be later registered in california? Lastly, when do the 06 models come out?

The 06's should start arriving in september - it'll be the best time to grab an 05 since they're going to be trying to move them. Plus - there are some incentive on the Accord right now, since it's sales have slipped a little lately.

Buy it in Arizona. 1. There are no emissions restrictions that a Honda would have trouble with. 2. Some Honda's in CA are crippled by a couple HP, to get under SULEV standards. 3. I imagine Honda's are more popular in CA than they are in AZ, so you would probably get a better deal there.

and yeah, they 06 models start early fall. altho, deals can be had at the moment on 05 accords. two of my coworkers each independantly bought LX 4cyl auto accords for 17k + fees.

SULEV/PZEV accords are now rated the same 160 HP as normal accords. They used to be less, but that is not the case anymore. The SULEV/PZEV thing only becomes a problem if you try to mod it.

Honda now sells a VP accord which sits inbetween the LX and DX, and it invoices for 16K if you really need to pinch budget.

06 accord will come out fall of 05 and the accords are getting a moderate redesign. It's more than a facelift but less than a full redesign. What I am told is the I4 will be 170 HP and V6 250 HP.

Sales tax is probably lower in AZ also.
