When was the last you parallel parked?

Never. Only time I've had to parallel park was during my driving test. That was about 8 years ago.

its always the guy who backs in that takes the spot. if you'r parked next to the empty spot (or rather parked next to the guy in front of the empty spot) its your spot. you can't just come in from behind....thats just wrong.

so, pull up ahead of the spot, put the blinker on indicating that you're going to be parking...and just wait for everyone to pass you before you commence parking. if you can't get into the spot in one shot, you suck, and i will commence laughing at your expense =).

Its funny when people try to park in chinatown(nyc) where the streets only let one car go by, so the guy parking is holding up traffic while he tries to squeeze into a spot. and its mostly NJers who tried 20 times before they actually get in...its hilarious

i do this fairly often because my school is in downtown and parking is horrid. The trick is that you have to get insanely close to the car infront of the parking spot you are trying to get into.

Last summer. I drove to San Diego and had to park along a beach-front road. Had to wait for someone to leave a gap for me to squeeze in. Perfect execution on first try.
