Nor on my Windows XP Home system. Wonder what I'm doing wrong?

maybe it's a winxp pro thing.

LOL.

I hope none of you are serious.

This is my friends computer...

It has only been a month on my laptop and its still running quick as hell :) I defrag often though, and clean up the registry...

How do you clean up the registry?

http://www.macecraft.com/home/

They have my favorite registry cleaner.

Nice. It found 517 "errors". Mostly obsolete entries.

No, I'm being serious. I type "systeminfo" at the command prompt and receive the following message:

"'system info' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

Seriously.

Stuff just got too slow so I wiped a big drive clean and started over fresh. I couldn't stand my old bloated install.

For me the pain of reinstalling dozens of programs far outweighs a tiny performance boost, so I won't reinstall unless it totally craps the bed.

I keep an image of my boot HD.

So technically, I have re-installed windows everytime I get a hint of spyware (which has been about 200 times now, literally).

Takes only a couple minutes.... f'n love it. No need to re-activate winxp or re-do my configs... winlite = thewtfbbqpwn.

Still runs pretty well so I haven't reinstalled in a while now. I guess it could be about time for one just to get things cleaned up.

I had to do a repair install after I installed the Age of Empires 3 demo, so that really doesn't count. I had originally installed sometime in 2004...

August of 2005. I'm going to do it again as soon as school ends this term (have an issue posting to my online school site that nothing else will fix). I've never had an install of windows last longer than about 18 months. Further proof that MS sucks utterly.

By way of comparison one of my freebsd machines has been chugging since about 2000 without any issues, as have two of my linux boxes.

Can't check XP Home, but my XP Pro vmware system has it. My Win2k install does not have it.
