When typing, all characrers appear twice

When I type on the keyboard all characters appear 2 times. This happens in Win 98 applications, MS-DOS standalone and in the BIOS setup. If a hit the up or down arrow it goes up (or down) 2 times. It appears the first charater appeares when a key is pressed down and the second character appears when the key is released. Does anyone know how to fix This ??? Thanks.
 
You could try a new keyboard, or you could try setting the type delay in BIOS to default.
 
Thanks for the answer...I tryed a few keyboards and reset the bios...I even removed the battery from the motherboard...but no luck
 
is it a USB or PS2 keyboard?

if it is one, buy a connector to try it on the other port...

other than that, all I can suggest is to borrow a friend's keyboard and see if it is the keyboard, or buy a new one.
