When traveling on a plane should I take my gamecube in my carry-on or stick it with the rest of the luggage?

I've got to go on a business trip for about a week and I'm gonna take my gamecube with me so I don't go bored out of my skull (plus the guy I'm going with is a miserable person so this will be an excuse not to hang out with him). So, with airport security being all crazy how should I take my gamecube? I've heard that if you take a laptop they make you turn it on to verify that it actually works and it's not a bomb but there's no way I could fire up my gamecube so how should I do this?

Also, anyone have any recommendations on games I could take? I'm probably going to go out and buy a bunch of older used games since it will be cheaper than just buying one or two new games.

I put it in my checked luggage. They have never said anything about it.

As for games, check the Hot Deals thread. Toys R Us is having a Buy 2 Get 1 free sale. Also, I usually just rent a couple of games if I'm going out of town. Guess it depends on how long you are going to be out of town.

Mine has never gotten hurt either. Even after going through Mexico. Pad it well, but the Gamecube holds up better than any of the consoles. You'd be hard pressed to break it if you wrapped some clothes around it (I use the original box and packaging).

If I could call them up I would but right now I don't know what airline I'm flying so I'm sort of in the dark. I would much rather take it with me since it would be safer than having it thrown around with the rest of my luggage but I just don't want to cause any problems with security. I dunno...maybe I'll get stuff it in between my clothes and pray it survives the trip.

If you can take it, do. You don't want to take a change that it will go 'missing' during the flight.

Cougar -

I've traveled on 4 different occasions with the Gamecube. I always throw it in the middle of my checked luggage and surround it by clothes. It's never gotten a scratch or gone missing. The hardware on that thing is pretty heavy duty. It's not as tough as the original Gameboy Advanced, but it's pretty darn durable.

I went to Boston for the summer and brought my little Shuttle computer with me as a carry on. All they did was make me take it out of the carrying bag and they inspected it.
A gamecube shouldn't be a problem, they never made me turn my computer on so they shouldn't bother with your gamecube.

You can also get a portable screen, 1.5 hour battery, and DC power plug.

In my quest, I purchased (and returned) several models of LCD screens. Despite the high price, ONLY ONE was acceptable...and it totally exceeded my expectations!

The original Intec 5.6" screen was just like all the others...so crappy, I can't even begin to describe it. The revision has the same SKU# (barcode) and is in the store system as an identical product. Some stores have both, but most have the older model.

There is one way to tell the difference:
-If the package says "Game graphics like TV", the screen is total sh!t.
-If it says "Game graphics better than TV", it's freakin' amazing!

The 5.6" screen is larger than the official Sony PSone LCD, with identical (amazing) image quality.

Pair all that up with an official Wireless Wavebird Controller, and you have yourself a pretty amazing portable system.

Avoid all portable screens from:
Mad Catz
Interact
HipGear

Actually, there is a newer MadCatz screen that I have not tried. The overall design looks terribly flawed, so I doubt this screen has acceptable image quality.

did you buy it for 99.99?
. . . . i think you should just go ahead and call any airline, their policy should be the same, or call the most strict airline in your area.
