When your drill bit is lodged 120 feet below ground surface (bgs) because you were not calculating right and you ended up putting in bentonite chips and water into the hollow stem auger only to find that your drillbit is now encased in bentonite cement.
oh such fun at the field. Thank god it wasnt my fault, but i feel sorry for the guy... everything was going good until this thing happened. 1.5 hrs after the incident, they managed to bang out the bit with hydraulic punch and reverse up the bit to finish installing of the probes.
He thought he was at 115 feet, actually he was at 120feet. So when he pulled up he was at the wrong level and since he had already put in the bentonite and water into the hole to close up the top of the sand portion (where the probe sits).
if you dont know.. bentonite chips = dry, water reactive, and hardens.
