my best man did ours right after dinner, before dancing started... if they have someone coordinating, they will tell you... they need to get the champagne ready..

wait til you're slurring and thinking about doing the bride. thats usually the perfect time to tell your best friend who just got married that you did his wife last week

When all eyes are on you!!!
It is a terrifying prospect when sober. Make sure to have a speech ready, preferably something that you easily memorize

When I had to make the speech, it was before the meal not long after everyone was seated. Call for the toast.

There are alot of resources on the internet to help you. They helped me.

The wedding planner should tell you when to do it, either that or talk to the bride and/or brides mother to find out. Most often as has been said it happens when dinner is winding down... the most important tips are as follows:

(1) DO plan what you are going to say ahead of time & reherse it in front of another person, plus make yourself a "cheat-sheet" & keep it in your pocket in case you choke.

(2) DON'T be drunk/intoxicated even slightly ... yes it'll be scarier but the odds of a humiliating social blunder you'll never live down will be greatly reduced!
