When to install hd drivers

When you build a new computer, when do you install the hard drive drivers? Also, is there any drivers for a WD Raptor that can be used?

Hard drives are generally standard and don't come with drivers.

So you only need to install drivers when you have a RAID setup.

When I built my comp I put together in this order

1) Optical Drives
2) Floppy drive
3) HD Drive
4) PSU
5) Mobo
6) Heatsink and fan
7) Ram
8) Vid card
9) connect all PSU cables

🙂 and i was done.

The hard drives still won't need drivers. What will need drivers is the hard drive controllers. Some of the drivers are included with Windows, others aren't. Load them during the Windows installation and you should be peachy.

Sometimes. Not if Windows doesn't see your hard drives. 😛

You'll find the drivers on the disks that came with your IDE/SATA/SCSI controllers.

Yes, they're probably on the disc that came with the mobo.
