I am looking at the DDR memory prices right now and my mind is blown. Last year I spent $500 for 512M cas 2 Sdram form Muskin Aghhh!!!

Anyway I am gonna get me the new ASUS nforce DDR motherboard in a few months when it comes out and want to know should I get 512M of pc2100 now. I am gonna have WinXp on the box also. Is there some other memory thats coming out that is better? I heard something about some PC2700. I dont need the memory for a few months and if PC2700 is coming out then i can wait but damm I can get 512M pc2100 from crucial right now.

If I do get the mem now, what kind should I get to get overclocking etc. Is the crucial 2100 cas2.5 what i should get. (its $44 now for 256M )

THanks in advance any info would greatly be appreciated

Nope, PC2100 is here to stay for a while. I'd go ahead and get 512MB, especially if you will be running XP. PC2700 may sound good, but the Athlon probably won't be able to utilize that kind of bandwidth plus it will need chipset support. For ocing, you best bet would be Crucial's PC2400. It's PC2100, but it's certified to run at a 150MHz (300MHz DDR) clock, so if you're gonna be ocing the fsb to up to 150MHz, then that's the way to go.

As long as you get 2 x 256mb for the enforce you wll be OK, exactly what I will be doing. the nect step will be pc166 ddrm but current suggestion point at a year until that starts rolling out.
