Are prices going to remain fairly stable for a few months, or should I hold off for some impending big price cut? I didn't think any new lines were coming out soon, but I'm not as up to date on GPUs

it should be relatively stable for now. there are supposedly going to be some refreshes coming out from both ATi and Nvidia, but they're still a few months away. if you're looking at an X1800XT, you better get one quick, because they sell for less than $230. ATi wants to get rid of them ASAP, so if you're in the market spring for one quick.

Depends what your upgrading from and what games you play and at what resolutions. Id also reccomend the X1800XT, its a fast bloody card and great for the price.
Oblivion @ 1600 x 1200 is like playing a dream.

The time to buy a new video card is when you are no longer satisfied with the performance in your games. Not necessarily when the "new" thing is out.

Yep. Everyone says that my 6800 GS is enough. But I'm not satisfied anymore. I want to run Quake 4 at Ultra with 8X AA and AF.
