when to book a trip to vegas?

So I want to go to vegas in october, but looking at the travel sites there aren't any deals yet. should i book now to be safe or wait?

i'm wondering if airfare will increase if i wait, or maybe they'll get desperate and slash prices.

generally, the earlier you book in advance, the lower the price you pay. unless something happens, it's probably going to be cheaper to book earlier.

i could be wrong.

Thats a good general rule, but sometimes they have deals.
Talk to a travel agent. If you havent found anything special online then maybe thay can tell you what to do.

Airfare will go up and down wildly between now and October. My advice is be as flexible as possible with your vacation dates for the next several weeks. Keep checking sites like travelocity for airfare for your "target days" plus or minus a couple days. You might find the best prices the day before or after you actually want to leave.

My girlfriend and I just got back from Vegas this past Friday. We were originally looking for 4 days and 3 nights on the strip. It turned out $150 cheaper to fly into Vegas the night before and spend a fourth night in the hotel - total 4.5 days 4 nights.

If you're looking for a hotel on the Strip on the cheap, try Imperial Palace. Just make sure to request a room facing away from the strip. There is a bar/club owned by Harrah's directly in front of Imperial and they blast loud music until 3-4:00 in the morning. That may not matter to you, but just a warning.

If you want to gamble, head downtown in the evenings for the cheap tables, where there is a plethora of $3-5 a hand blackjack. Unless you like playing $10-15 tables on the Strip. Take the bus (called The Duece) downtown. It runs up and down Las Vegas Blvd until like 3:00am.
