So we were planning on going to both the Turks and Caicos and Aruba in April but this morning a $360 RT fare to Milan showed up so now we're going to Italy instead. We keep saying we want to go to more places than Europe but I have yet to be able to turn down a cheap airfare there when the dates work out for work

Secretflying and fly4free seem to be pretty good at the moment but it changes. fly4free is slower getting the deals out than they used to be. This flight was based off an overall sale post here:

We undoubtedly would have had a great time but low airfare (or even award flights) to Italy have been tough to come by for several years now and this lines up perfectly with my wife's spring vacation and the weather will likely be more pleasant that speak tourist\hot\humid season during her summer break.

With Southwest flying to both Aruba and, now, T&C my bet is that it'll be easier to get a cheap airfare there than Italy in the next couple of years.

I took SW to Aruba earlier this year since I have points + the companion pass. Paid $180 round trip for 3 tickets cause of taxes lol. Would have probably been like $1800 otherwise. Luckily I have a direct flight to Aruba from here. T&C looks to stop in FLL though. I'm going to Grand Cayman next month and taking SW as well, and that lays over in FLL too.

Aruba is 82 and breezy all year round, which is part of the reason I love that place. I've never been to Grand Cayman but I hear it's humid and hot. But I plan on being in the water doing water stuff pretty much any time I'm not eating or sleeping so it will be just fine.

And this is June. So you're planning your vacations almost a year in advance?!

Yep. My vacation time is perpetually planned for almost a year in advance. I booked my NZ trip 330 days out. Some cruises are bookable ~1.5 years in advance so my hope is one march to book a cruise for the following April, notify people of the time off and then have to clarify "No not three weeks from now - 55 weeks from now"

We've been to Belgium a couple of times and while we love the country (and its beer and its waffles and its chocolate and its fries and it has the best Fish and Chips place I've ever been to) we also love visiting new countries
